Barcode Scanner not working without keyboard attached

Hello!

I have run into a small issue. We are using chrome mode to display a web page with our time clock information for employees to punch in and out. I have a small standalone barcode scanner so they can scan their timeclock badge. I noticed that if the raspberry pi boots up without a keyboard plugged into it the barcode scanner will not work. If I plug in a keyboard reboot the Pi then the barcode scanner works. Any ideas on how to get the scanner to work without a keyboard needing to be plugged in?


Computer: Raspberry Pi 3
Display: Raspberry Pi touch screen
Barcode Scanner: MJ-8200

I went to get the log files and just for the heck of it I unplugged the keyboard one more time and rebooted it and now its working fine. I am not sure what was going on yesterday. I am just going to tally it up to user error at this point. If it happens again I will submit the log.
