I'm planning on upgrading my server to WS2008, any chance that would work? Not expecting full compatibility, just the basic remote desktop at 800x600 with 24bit colors.
Thanks!
WTware and Windows Server 2008?
No, not so easily...
Hi all,
well, it is not so easy. I've tried to connect to windows 2008 server, and I get
ERROR: Failed to extract public key from certificate
ERROR: send: Connection reset by peer
ERROR: Connection closed
When under Linux, I use rdesktop to connect to windows 2008 and I use the 1.5 version of rdesktop, I get the exact same error. When I use the 1.6 version, it works.
This error only occurs if the terminal service role has been activated on the windows 2008 server. If it hasn't, there is no problem (at least not with rdesktop 1.5).
Using the busybox command line from the wtworks boot, I can see that the rdesktop included is version 1.3. So no wonder it won't work.
Repacking wts.pkg, which is a tar.gz packed by busybox (packing with standard tar and gzip won't work for the extraction during network boot), I tried to add the 1.6 version of rdesktop, but that didn't work, possibly since it is linked against newer versions of c libraries.
I wrote to wtware support, and while I got some receipts, they did not answer.
Thanks in advance for help,
M
