Screen flickering in 5.6.20

Post by geefox »

Hello,

today we encountered a problem with wtware x86 version 5.6.20
the screen of one user starts to flicker when he types something. it appears randomly. tried to change client and monitor incl. cables, but it doesnt help.
I found a client with an old version 5.6.17 and connected it to the same monitor setup, and there is no flickering.
After that I upgraded the same client to version 5.6.20 and the flickering started

attached you the log from the client on version 5.6.20 with the flickering issues

best regards

its really hard to recognize, but its there :D

do you have any kind of changelog's for this and other upcoming versions?

Kernel gurus also write about flickering in i915 driver:

https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel ... Log-4.9.66
Revert "drm/i915: Do not rely on wm preservation for ILK watermarks"
This reverts commit 7de694782cbe7840f2c0de6f1e70f41fc1b8b6e8 which is commit 8777b927b92cf5b6c29f9f9d3c737addea9ac8a7 upstream.
It was reported to cause flickering and other regressions.
