This would help us as well. We have HDMI audio working fine, but we are unable to use onboard audio. Setting the name would help!

I can add "sound=device-name" if you show me logs of the case where current magic digits cause problem. Note "device-name" in linux is not intuitive too and should be copy-pasted from web-interface in the same way as magic digits are copy-pasted now.

I would like to request the ability to disable detecting HDMI audio devices. This can cause a lot of difficulty in properly assigning sound devices to softphone, RDP, etc.
