What i want to do is to run my pos directly on my server and use the raspberrypi as a thin client (i do not see problem on this) however i see that all documentation is focused to use wtware on a local server (that i do not have) and the printer configuration says that i need to connect the printer first directly on the server (its a cloud server so its impossible to do this).
Connect printer to windows computer. Run mstsc.exe. Connect to server. Configure printer on server to print from mstsc session. Use native printer drivers, not remote desktop printing and other generic. The same results as direct connecting.

I tried to install it on my laptop in order to create the sd image but it seems that it has some server services.. i dont know if wtware need to be running on server or if it is only a tool to create the sd image...
No. Install wtware on any local windows computer to make boot sd.

Do not call it network boot. You'll boot from local sd.

You don't need wtftp, wthttp, wtdhcp. Boot from sd and place wtware terminal config on sd.

Should work with. Use rdp_printer= wtware option, not printer=.

WtWare on azure server and tickets print

by barart » Sun May 06, 2018 5:04 am

Hello, new user here!

Im on a process to update my store computer, i have a azure windows server (windows server 2016) and a raspberry, i was wondering if i can use this as a thin client and i found wtware.

I already saw almost all videos, tutorials and documentation but none of them talks about using it on a cloud server...

My scenario:

My current server runs on azure, as mentioned above it has windows server 2016 with iis (http and ftp) because i have a ios/android app and my website and api runs on it...

In my local store i have a windows 7 computer with a tickets print (lpt1 - epson) and a propietary pos software (that connects to my server), this computer is very very old and its starting to cause problems,

Another doubt i have its that you need to install wtware on the server? I tried to install it on my laptop in order to create the sd image but it seems that it has some server services.. i dont know if wtware need to be running on server or if it is only a tool to create the sd image...

However, what i want to achieve its to use my raspberry pi as a thin client of my azure server, network boot and use my ltp ticket printer on it (i have a ltp-to-usb cable), if using my ltp printer is not possible i can get a new usb ticket print, however i cant connect physically it to the server as documentation says

In case that wtware services (wtftp, wthttp, wtdhcp) needs to be running on my server, does them can coexists with iis? i dont want to break my current iis server...

Is this possible? what do you suggest or what is your advice to achieve this?

Thanks in advice
