Postby fmo » Wed Aug 12, 2015 7:09 pm

Drawing speed on large LCD (1920x1080) 32bit of wtware is slower than that of RDP client on Windows 7.

It is even slower in drawing photo image on Internet

The video card is Intel HD 4000 it's possible the problem is video card ?

Thanks for your help

You compare wtware and RDP client on Windows 7 on the same client hardware, 32bit color on both?

What type of graphic you test?

Please, give me a wtware log after testing.

In new versions we added new graphics codec. It looks much better, for more details see: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=47542

We are testing Wtware to connect to a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. Currently all 12 clients connect from their Windows 7 Professional Pcs in 1920x1080 Resolution with a Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600.

With the original Windows RDP client everything works smooth, even youtube Videos. Booting Wtware and using graphics auto detection or the video=i915(F) driver we get several abortions on i.e. youtube videos. Even sometimes you see a mouse track on the monitor.

Same Problem, even worse ist on Rpi3.

Any ideas how to improve the graphics Power? Is it possible to update graphic driver on the 2008 R2 Server?

Besides that problems Wtware with the Configurator is very great.

Smooth video over RDP in 2008R2 server? Impossible.

bpp=16 (for x86, for RPi look into config.txt on SD to set 16 bit color depth) will speed up for 5%.
redraw_delay=50 will give illusion of another 5% speed up.

Even with new graphic codec in 2012R2, I see large difference between local playback and RDP.
Thin clients are not for video.

Beside video we see some mouse tracks, rectangles under the mouse pointer when the clients move the mouse, which not happens on the windows 7 native rdp client.
Just tested another machine with Radeon HD7570 Graphics. Same Problem. Graphics test with wtware says 6.87 seconds radeon(F). Is this a good or bad value? Same machine with ati(u) driver 12.7 seconds

P.S.: In the 2012 Thread i read that Rpi2 can play youtube videos

Its not realy quicker with your settings. Open up a pdf on the terminal, scroll the mouse wheel, nothing happens, move the mouse and see rectangles with the moved text from the pdf, then the whole pdf scrools and gets refreshed.
As this is a publishing company, this is something they do very often

redraw_delay=50 makes rectangles under mouse to be updated a bit faster. General graphic speed becomes lower, but if rectangles are so important...

6.87 seconds are good. RPi takes about 20 seconds to execute this test. This is a CPU => video memory benchmark. Before coming to thin client CPU, video is rendered on server. Then lossy is compressed again, this time with RDP video codec. Then passes over network.

There is completely new RDP graphic codec in 2012R2. It plays video much faster than older RDP, so that even RPi can display something that looks like video in a small window. And it makes low quality youtube video even worse.

Please, record me video of screen with so slow pdf.
And save the log after you record this video.
Here is manual about logs: https://wtware.com/docs5/logs.html

Did some more testing and found a broken network cable on one of the three machines. Replacing it fixed the issues on this PC with the PDF.
Second PC works today without problems, third one still have the problems.

Rpi3 on cable and on wireless also works (PDf not as good as on real PC), but I did get some "GFX pipe closed" errors.

I suspect, that there is something wrong in the network. As we move the whole stuff to another location in two weeks, I have to check again.

Thanks so far.
